Statue Unveiling

Upon returning from their spring break in 2012, the students at Loyola University Chicago noticed small barricade of fencing in the middle of the Quad, with signage that teased “The Wolves are Unleashed – March 12, 4:00 P.M.”  That day 1,000 students gathered in the Quad for the unveiling of “Los Lobos de Loyola” a new statue representing the wolves and kettle that are part of Loyola’s crest. When we were told that we would need to create an event for this unveiling, we were also told “there is no money” for this.  We decided to use 22’ foot nylon wind banners that we already had in house and spent about 2 hours in the warehouse where the statue was being stored, configuring a way to cover the statue in a creative way that would allow for the banners to be pulled off for the “reveal.”  The President led the students in a countdown as the university’s mascot, Lu Wolf and 12 hand-picked students pulled the banners away to reveal the new statue.
